Los tonos musicales

Exactly, but now seek to understand the context, not word for word, remember that Spanish, has many cognates, that is, similar words in other languages, such as English and French. Once you identify them it is easier.

Last Wednesday we talked about tino, so today we talk about tone.

Pitch and tone, pitch and tone? So with rhythm? /tono y tino

Yes, with rhythm, because pitch is a quality of sounds, it refers to music.

Of course, singing in a high or low tone

If I tell you: lower the pitch, you're going to speak

Lower   (más bajo)

Of course, to moderate or to take care of the tone when speaking is to make inflections of the voice. What happens if you always speak in the same tone of voice?

People get bored and think of something else.

If you speak too slowly?

They fall asleep.

The tone is also the telephone signal, free, busy... Do you remember these sounds?

What is the other use of this word tone?

It is the degree of coloration, for example in painting. Let's take the case of the artist Bruno Pegoretti, you can see his work in his Gallery in San Jose del Cabo or here in Spanish in Cabo, he is Italian but more than 10 years ago when he moved here the tone of his paintings became much more colorful.

Because of the sun and the colorfulness, right?

It is common with other painters too, that the mood of the people and the weather influence the tone of his paintings. Also in fashion, for example "in tone" means harmony. If you talk about an elegant person, let's say me, you would say: the teacher was wearing matching bag and shoes.

Well, let's say yes, let's go on....

Not exactly the same tone of bag and shoes, that's from the 90's anymore, to the tone not the same tone.

We said 5 minutes, they are going to LIFT THE TONE... that is to say: NOW, LET'S GO ON.

Well, those of us who have good humor, like me, must be careful not to make jokes that are too high in tone.... are the dirty jokes.

Please don't tell a joke, especially not a dirty one.

No, of course not. I don't make dirty jokes or off-color jokes, you know, they are jokes with things related to sex.  If you want on the Internet you have many...

Anything to study Spanish....

How was the sunset today?

Fantastic with wonderful shades of red.

Do you know any catchy tunes?

For example here in San Jose butane gas is delivered in cylinders and the truck uses a little tune: ta-ra-ra rar ra ra r ara ra , la la la la la

The problem is that it starts at 6:30 in the morning…What do you call a person who loses pitch when singing?

Out of tune or who sings very badly

And the opposite?

In tune or who sings very well

Are you intoned or out of tune? If you want to be in tune with your goals of speaking fluent Spanish in 2023, click here and you will see all the podcasts with exercises, videos, commented news and culture that we have.

What about interacting with native speakers?

You have workshops or conversation meetings, grammar classes and reading clubs, coordinated by expert teachers, every day.

And, if you don't have time to do everything, don't worry, it's up to you, you go to your own tune, everything is recorded on your site.

So, in a fun way and almost without realizing it, you will speak Spanish like a Latin American. But, don't take our word for it, come this Friday to the free workshop and listen to how the participants speak.

SpanishUp2U is the fastest way to master Spanish.

Thank you very much for making it this far in the podcast.

If you enjoyed it, please share it.

See you at the classes or workshops, at the Facebook cooking experience or next Wednesday.

See you later

Bye, bye
