We are everywhere.

Well, we have 5 minutes if we don't get started we'll run out of time. What's the topic today?

We spent Easter last Sunday....

Yes, Happy Easter! And ...

The word Passover (paschae in Latin, pesach in Hebrew) means PASSOVER. For the ancient Hebrew people it meant the crossing of the Red Sea, i.e. the passage from slavery to freedom.

Or for Christians, the passage from the death of Jesus to the resurrection.

Esclavitud-                slavery

Muerte-                      death

Resurrección-           resurrection

It is a cognate or a similar word in English and Spanish and ...

Paso - step

Yes, but also, “paso” is a place where you can pass or a name:

Paso Escopeta near San Jose

Paso de los Toros, I lived in that city!

El Paso, Texas

Also, there are very nice dance steps, for example, the tango steps, they are quite difficult, but,...how sensual it is to dance tango!

Paso comes from the verb pasar and I guess we are going to talk about this verb today.

Yes, for example, when we pass through the desert or the beach, we experience the feeling of being in a specific place. Have you ever had an interesting experience passing through such a place?

Yes! I remember when I went through the desert for the first time.

And ...how did you spend your birthday?

I had a great time, with the family, we ate, we went to the beach, we had a great day.

I'm glad you had a good time in the sun on the beach, because you can have good or bad moments. For example, in the summer during the Hurricane we had a hard time.

Not as hard as the people in Acapulco.

No, they had a very bad time, now they are having a much better time.

And what happens when someone crosses the line?

Raya - line

To cross the line means to go beyond the acceptable limits in a given situation.

Pasarse de la raya- to cross the line

For example, someone who goes over the line in his or her comments or actions. He/she says something like: "Eduardo, how fat you are! What do you eat to be like this?

Yes, I agree. It is important to know when to stop and not to go overboard in certain situations.

And speaking of moving from one situation to another, what do you think of the idea of going from being monolingual to bilingual?

It’s great and you can do it! Being bilingual opens many doors and allows you to understand other people and different cultures.

Thank you very much for making it this far in the Podcast. If you liked it, pass it on to your friends and leave us a comment.

We don't let your comments pass us by, that is, we read them carefully and attentively.
