What is our topic today?

As we postponed the Easy Spanish in Paradise workshop for this Saturday, October 28, 2023, we are going to reflect, in this podcast No 167, on the verbs that derive from poner, such as posponer, justly.

I don't want to impose my idea but...we already have a podcast about the verb poner. Look, it's here.

Exactly, I have this information, I remember that in that edition two people with opposite ideas participated, there is a dialogue, very interesting about setting the table or putting music in the background?

Very interesting topics, I see.

Well, it's the 5-minute topics nobody is supposed to listen to International Relations topics here. I propose to talk about verbs derived from poner. That is to say that if we prefix poner with a prefix we form new words such as posponer, suponer, reponer, expose.

I propose...

Yes, what do you propose?

To go to the translations.

Ahh, yes, of course

With some examples in present or past tense

Posponer- to pospone - El taller se pospuso una semana, lo bueno es que no te lo vas a perder. / The workshop was postponed for a week, the good thing is that you won't miss it.

Reponer-to replace - Los empleados del súper reponen los productos ni bien se terminan. / Supermarket employees replace troducts as soon as they are finished

Suponer – to suppose - Suponemos que no vas a leer la versión en inglés, ¿o no? / We suppose you're not going to read the English version, are you?

Anteponer- to preface or prefix –to put before –

Proponer-to propose   Pedro le propuso matrimonio a María en una cena íntima. / Pedro proposed to Maria at an intimate dinner.

Imponer - to Impose - El rey imponía el orden en su reino. / The king imposed order in his kingdom.

Exponer – to expose - En el Art Walk de San José los pintores exponen su arte. / On the San Jose Art Walk, painters exhibit their art.

Oponer - to oppose / to object - Nunca me opongo a tus decisions.  / I never oppose your decisions.

Componer - to compose - El tiempo se compuso después del huracán. / The weather settled after the hurricane.

There is a saying that has to do with why we had to postpone the Easy Spanish in Paradise workshop:

El hombre propone y Dios dispone. / Man propose and God dispose.

Nature objected to the name of our workshop because of paradise?

No, of course not, the weather is fine, the sun is shining.

And I suppose that you, who are listening to this podcast up to here, don't want to postpone your progress in Spanish any longer, do you? Click here and 'start now.
