The World Cup is still going on, shall we talk about soccer again?

No, today we have another topic, but first we congratulate you if you are American or English, because you have already qualified to the round of 16, the rest of us are still suffering.

 Mexico defines today, Wednesday.

They play later.

Well, but today we are going to talk about ...

About this word: “luego”. It has several meanings and uses.

What is the origin of the word?

It comes from Latin, locus- place and for sure you say: goodbye, see you later!

In this case “hasta luego” means: see you later, it is a farewell.

This word has a pronunciation difficulty because of the two vowels: ue'. What other words have a similar sound?

Juego - game

Fuego - fire

Video juego - video game

Then as an adverb it means “después” (later - then)

You add oil and salt, then, you let the dough rest.

Luego means after

As a conjunction it means: Therefore (of course)

Like Descartes' famous phrase: "Pienso luego existo." I think therefore I am

To say “desde luego” means to give something for sure or without doubt.

Of course, it's good to study Spanish, it helps you to discover the real Mexico.

And my favorite is: “luego, luego”, which means here very near here.

Where did you leave the book?  Here, “luego, luego”.
