¡Hola verano! Hi Summer! / 5 minutes of Spanish (English version) + Podcast

Hello, how are you? Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening, depending on where you are or the time you're listening.
Thank you very much for being here participating in this podcast about Spanish, a language we love and which brings us together today.
You're in 5 Minutes of Spanish, and this is episode number 239.
Welcome! Thank you for being with us week after week, for your comments, for listening, and for being part of this family that is Spanish in Cabo.

Today we'll talk about summer activities, because in one part of the world it's summer.
It's very hot!
Where does the word "summer" come from?
It comes from the Latin "veranum tempus," which originally referred to springtime or verdure, a time of greenery. The word derives from "ver," which in Latin means "spring." Over time, this name came to refer to the hottest time of the year.
It's a very fun time, sunny, and in some places very hot...
To remember some activities, let's listen to a conversation between two people, okay?
Yes, whatever you say, as always...
— What do you usually do in the summer?
I really like vacationing. Sometimes I go to the beach with my family, and other times I prefer camping in the mountains.
— Great! I love summer too. I always try to get a little tan, but carefully. I use sunscreen.
— Of course! The sun can be dangerous. Do you like swimming?
— A lot! I swim in the ocean or in the pool. I also love diving or snorkeling and looking at the fish.
— I'm a little scared of diving! But I like surfing when there are big waves.
— How brave! I prefer walking along the seashore or playing cards on the beach.
— Have you ever made a campfire when you're camping?
— Yes, of course. We like to make a campfire, tell stories, and look at the stars. It's so much fun!
— I also really like to travel in the summer. Last year I traveled to Mexico and tried lots of new foods.
— That's delicious! I also want to discover new places this year.
— Well, the important thing is to relax, right?
— Yes, absolutely. Summer is for resting, enjoying, and experiencing new things.
