Unique Trips, your travel agency helps you to visit not only Mexico but the whole world and we take special care with the listeners of the podcast, of course.

You can travel on cruises for example and if you coordinate the trip with Unique Trips you have great benefits.

Cruceros - cruises

Agencia de viajes - Travel Agency

And speaking of travel, I have some strange news, on your next trip you are going to have to take a test to enter Mexico.

Yes, as you are listening, a geography test of Mexico, it's a new government regulation.

It's easy, it`s to know the capitals of the 32 federative entities and some place names such as:

Comalcalco, Calakmul, Tepoztlán, Tehotihuacan,

What day is today?

Today is December 28th, it is in many Latin American countries and in Spain it is the Day of the Innocents, so we say to you:

"Inocente palomita que te dejaste engañar" (Innocent little dove that you let yourself be fooled).

It is a day when you play pranks on your friends and family. And sometimes the jokes are a little heavy.

It's a joke, you don't have to take a test when you arrive in Mexico, on the contrary, Mexico always has open doors, this is the tradition of the country.

Did you believe it? Did you fall for the joke?

Bromas pesadas - sick jokes

Inocente palomita - innocent little pigeon

Engañar- to cheat

It's not good to cheat, but on April Fool's Day you are allowed to play pranks.

What is the origin of this day?

Remember a very cruel situation in the Bible, when King Herod ordered to kill all the children under two years of age in Bethlehem, because he found out that some kings had visited a child and worshipped him.

Herod wanted them to worship only him. But he could not kill Jesus

In time these innocent children began to be remembered and jokes were made among the altar boys. Later the custom was taken up with family, friends and also the press, that is to say, the newspapers published false news.

In 1905 they published that the Viaducto de Segovia, the highest bridge in Madrid had broken and all the people went to check it out, so everyone fell for the joke.

Monaguillos - altar boys

Caer en una broma – to fall in a joke

We use the verb caer in its non-reflexive form when a joke is played on us and we don't realize it.

The verb caer is very irregular

In Simple Present it is conjugated - yo caigo, tu caes, el cae, nosotros caemos, ellos caen.

In the Preterite -   yo caí, tú caíste, él/ella cayó, nosotros caímos ellos cayeron.

Yo siempre, siempre caía en las bromas que hacía mi papa (I always fall in my Dad´s jokes), finally he laughed a lot, he was very good at making jokes and pranks. “Caía” is the Imperfect Conjugation.

What is not a joke is that 2022 is leaving us and that making and understanding jokes in another language is not easy.

But there is a way to master Spanish and to do so click here and you will see how with SpanishUP2U you will become an expert in Spanish.

You will have a lot of resources to do it. But, don't take our word for it, come this Friday to the free Vamos a Platicar Workshop and listen to how the participants speak.
