Hello, how are you?

Thank you very much for being here participating in this podcast about Spanish, a language that we love and that today summons us. I am Eduardo Satorno, Spanish teacher at SpanishUp2U and manager of Unique Trips, your travel agency.

I am Malena Algorta, Spanish teacher at Spanish in Cabo and at SpanishUp2U. If you want to know more about your Spanish site click here and you will see all the podcasts, videos and lessons we have for you, so you can communicate better with your friends, family or on your travels.

Or just congratulate yourself for being able to read and understand another language.

As we are in December, it is ideal to think about this year. First of all, we want to thank all those who trusted our team and joined SpanishUp2U or took some of our courses. Thank you very much for being part of this family and for allowing us to work on what we love the most, which is communication.

Thank you very much for your patience, trust and enthusiasm. But let's go to our topic today in these 5 minutes.

For the Spanish version click here.

Precisely in this podcast 129 we are going to talk about how to define the goals for 2023, related to Spanish. What do you think? Does it beat you?

Welcome! Thanks for listening wherever you are. This is a podcast to practice Spanish, if you need the English version, click on artist Bruno Pegoretti's fantastic chicken. And if you come to San Jose del Cabo, after your Spanish class you can visit Bruno and Jill in the Art District and chat in Spanish with them.

And what is “planear” or “planificar”? It is to make a plan or project to develop an activity. To achieve it, you have to first, analyze the why, what is your purpose, what do you want to improve your Spanish for?

And, why do many people study Spanish?

Spanish is the second language on the Internet and is spoken by more than 493 million people in the world.

And, something more personal?

Many people study Spanish because they want to live in Mexico and converse with friends and neighbors.

Or to travel around Latin America.

If this is your case, you can consult Eduardo and Alejandro who will tailor-make your trip. There are many people who study Spanish for the family. They have grandchildren, daughters-in-law or in-laws who are Colombian, Peruvian, Mexican?

So, “la meta”, the goal is a purpose and then you have to design the objectives.

Exactly, the objectives. It's what I want to achieve, it's the end. Logically they have to be in accordance with the goal.

In what verb tense are they posed?

Always in the present tense.

For example:

In December 2023 I speak Spanish, I read a book a week, I chat with friends by zoom. Concrete goals that excite you and SMART.

In other words, “inteligente”?

No, Eduardo, remember University, SMART means:

Specific                    específicos

Mensurabel             medibles

Achievable               alcanzables

Relevant                   relevantes

Timely                      temporal

It is important that the objective is measurable, that is, if you say something ..... like to get my belly down, (I don't say it, I don't say it) do you know someone who wants to lose his belly?

I don't, do you?

Heh heh

Well, the measurable goal should say: in December 2023 I have 70 centimeters of belly or abdomen, so it is measurable and specific.

Or speaking of Spanish, in 2023 I read 5 books by Latin American authors and participate in a Spanish club.
