We are convinced that it is very good to listen to Spanish and even if you don't understand word by word try to understand the general meaning. Familiarizing yourself with the rhythm of the language is fundamental. Besides, we hear many words, what is today's word?

Today's word is Gratitude, a beautiful word.

Gracias is a simple word, one of the first words you learn when you study Spanish, right?

It is nice to hear that we are thanked for something, we really like to be told thank you with a smile.

Sometimes you might think that saying thank you is part of politeness. In school or when we were children our parents would say to us:

Child, how do you say it?  And we would add: thank you, just for formality.

But to say thank you is much more than that.

The verb “dar” has many uses, today we are going to focus on giving thanks for something.

To thank is to give thanks or to feel gratitude.

To analyze what gratitude means we go to the origin of the word which is Latin and has two distinct parts Gratus- pleasant. Grateful Tudo- quality

Gratitude is the feeling that a person experiences when appreciating a favor or benefit that someone gives him.

Gratitude is felt

Derived from “gracias” as:

Gratitud -                   gratitude

Agradecido -             grateful

Agradecimiento-       gratitude

Agradable -               pleasant

Gratuito -                   free

Congraciarse-           ingratiate yourself

How about some examples?

We are very grateful for the very good participation of students in the Challenge.

It is great to experience gratitude

If you have gratitude to all those who help you, you will always have friends.

And if we say thank you or thank you very much the answer is:

You're welcome / for nothing or you're welcome according to politeness formulas....

Do you like to say thank you? You say it regularly, don’t you?
