Welcome! Thank you for being with us week after week, for your comments, for listening and participating in this family that is Spanish in Cabo. We continue with an audio in Spanish, you can listen to it with the transcription in Spanish and if you need it you have the English version, but....

You don't need it!

No, of course not, try to understand the context not word by word, besides, it's not so serious what we say... let's talk about a verb today, okay?

What do you mean it is not important what we say? Sometimes we make a joke, but, words are important! Some big problems in the world are created just by words....

Words, words, words ... like the song.

Let's get to the point because time is running, I mean it's going and we only have 5 minutes, so, let's get to today's verb which is very well known: to run.

There are many listeners of 5 minutes of Spanish who run, are you one of them?

Do you like to run races or marathons? Or do you prefer walking or perhaps, jogging?

Ah! the famous jogging, the verb in Spanish is trotar, but if we refer to the sport we say hacer jogging, we use the word in English.

The first difficulty with the verb correr is the pronunciation of the rr (erre).

For that you put your tongue on the roof of your mouth (palate) near your upper teeth and let it vibrate like when you say: rock, rock, rock.

Rock, rock, rock, rock, do you get it? It is important to pronounce well, people will think you know more Spanish and it is just a matter of practice. In SpanishUP2U you have two pronunciation workshops coordinated by Karina.

Here we run the advertising moment:

Do you want to pronounce the word correr well? Click here and start practicing Spanish with a method tailored to your needs.

Just like in English when we go from one place to another in a hurry, we say corro al banco or estoy a las corridas.

Also the one that runs is the time, the 5 minutes run...In the books you will read: corría el año 1995 when ....

Or we can move furniture around or move it. Move this chair. Or for example, the windows don't run well, they need to be fixed.

Water flows in a river, that is, it moves from one side to the other. In this area the water ran faster and that is why a dam was built.

In the case of vehicles, you can say this bike runs a lot. We have racing cars or racing bikes.

There are drivers who like to race or drive fast...it's not my case actually...

The verb "to race" has many uses, not only in sports. Doors or cars run, but not air conditioning, for example, or engines.

We can run through a city or a website, click here and go through the videos. Podcasts, exercises, classes and content that we prepared with you in mind.
