But don't listen to the above 187 podcasts all together..... Take it one step at a time. What's today's topic?

This week, on March 8, as you know we celebrate International Women's Day and as every year....

Oops, today we talk about women's rights and I say my very original joke: in my house I always have the last word: yes dear.

Ha, ha we have to laugh at this joke that I had never heard...But I was going to say that as every year we are going to give a flower to the students. Besides, March 8 is Friday and we have a cooking class, so the recipe has to be feminine...But today's topic is the feminine words in Spanish.

A very specific topic that is always good to review because, in Spanish, we have the coordination between noun and adjective.

There are very beautiful feminine words, for example,

la abundancia - abundance

If they end in “a” the words are usually feminine.

la casa -         the house

la palabra -    the word

la receta -      the recipe

We say: "they are usually feminine" because, there are some words ending in a, which are masculine:

el sofa -          the sofa, the couch

el idioma -      the language

On the other hand, there are professions or nouns that end in a but they can be masculine or feminine:

la periodista / el periodista -           the reporter, the journalist

la atleta, el atleta -                           the athlet

la dentista - el dentista -                  the dentist

All nouns ending in dad- tad -sion -cion are feminine:

la diversión - the fun

la organización -       the organization

la libertad -                liberty

la ciudad -                  the city

la solidaridad -          solidarity

Words ending in ia or ie are feminine words

History - la historia, la hysteria also, ha ha

The series

And all nouns ending in ad- ed -id -ud

la mitad -        the half

la pared -       the wall

la vid -            the grapevine

la salud -        health

And there are more feminine words, usually in the professions one is added to for example, el jefe, la jefa; el presidente, la presidenta.

Mexico is going to have a female president for the first time on June 2, the two majority candidates are women, one of the two is going to win.

And you, do you remember other feminine words?

A somewhat complicated topic (tema) nowadays with inclusive language....

Happy Women's Day, abundant, hard-working, creative, supportive, intelligent woman and student of Spanish.

Thank you very much for making it this far in the podcast. If you enjoyed it, please share it and leave us your comments.

See you in the classes or workshops, in the cooking and language experience, 24/7 on SpanishUp2U or next Wednesday. and cheers women!

Bye-bye.
