In episode 162 of 5 minutes of Spanish we are going to talk about a very nice word in Spanish, this language that 490 million people speak and that is the second in the world in international communication. If you want to learn more click here and you will see all the options you have.

What is this beautiful word?

Paisaje comes from the Latin: pagus, field, district, territory, village. It is related to country and from there to paisano.

Shall we go to its English equivalents?

Paisaje – landscape

Campo- land

País- country

Paisano- fellow countryman

How do we define this term: landscape?

According to the dictionary of the RAE, Royal Spanish Academy, it is the part of a territory that can be observed from a certain place.

It is also the painting or drawing that represents a natural space.

It is a part of the territory that we observe, that is, each person sees it differently, according to their culture and interests, right?

Exactly, in this sense we could differentiate it from environment, but for science, for us landscape is what we see and we differentiate it as types of landscapes, for example:

Natural landscape in which there is very little intervention by man.

urban or city

rural or countryside

marine or coastal as in Los Cabos

desert as in Los Cabos, also

forest - bosque

steppe - stepa

And why are we talking about landscape?

First of all, because it is a word that is often forgotten in Spanish classes and it is used a lot.

You can say, for example:

How beautiful this landscape!

I like mountain landscapes.

When I was a child I really enjoyed these countryside landscapes.

Which landscape do you like better, the sea or the mountains?

But we also like to talk about this word because in these weeks we are discovering many landscapes in Argentina, we are dazzled by so much nature!

We visited one of the largest wetlands in America, the Iberá marshes in Corrientes.

The southernmost city in America: Ushuaia

One of the largest reserves in the world: the glaciers of Patagonia, such as the Perito Moreno, which is absolutely breathtaking.

And how can you visit it?  Just consult with Unique trips your Travel Agency that will put together a tailor-made trip for you.

When you can interact in the local language you enjoy your trips much more, don't you? You can talk to locals, empathize, go to the place you want, not depend on guides and move more freely.

Do you want to discover new landscapes, visit different places in the Spanish-speaking world in your own way by talking to the locals? Click here and you will see that with our method you will do it in no time.
