Once again we will speak in Spanish, if you need the English version you have the help of our “catrin” Larry, just click on that image and that's it...

But, if you relax and read the Spanish version, you understand, don't you?

Of course, you do, try to understand the context, not word by word, remember that Spanish has many cognates, that is, similar words in other languages, such as English and French, once you identify them it is easier.

That is why today we are going to continue with words related to “correr”, which was our verb of the current month or July and this is today's word: “corriente”, which is a cognate in English and French.

“Corriente” comes from “correr”, meaning to run, right?

Exactly, and what runs is time, this is not very original...that's why we talk about current month, current year. For example, in legal documents such as contracts or papers with the local government in the date it says: On the 21st day of July of the current month and it is understood that it is the year 2022, in this case.

But it is used in that formal context not in daily life, much less on the Internet The synonym is: actual or present What other things run?

Water runs and that is why water currents are formed, which can be rivers or water movements in the sea and it is worthwhile to swim with the current, this is very important.

What about running water?

Agua corriente o potable

It is the tap water, it is the water produced by the city. In Mexico you can't drink it if you don't have a filter. We also have electric current.

And alternating current...

Uy we are not talking about physics, but about Spanish...we can also say that there are currents of thought, like realism, empiricism, idealism, existentialism....

"Z-z-Z-z-Z" I'm going to snore and go to sleep.....

You're snoring, I bore you, what a current, you don't want to talk about philosophy!

Another meaning?

Ordinary is that which does not stand out.

An example? An ordinary dress is a dress without style, nothing original, but ideal for the 35 degrees we have these days around here!

“Corriente” is synonymous with ordinary, not polite. For example, a person who speaks with bad words, uses common language.

In geography Corrientes is a province of Argentina, also a beautiful city that is the capital of that province. It is a very beautiful region with many water currents because it is crossed by large rivers. What do you have to do if you want to know Corrientes in Argentina?
