On this 20th of July let's toast to that friend who makes our lives happier

Hoy en Argentina se celebra el Día del amigo, así que felicidades a toda la familia de Spanish in Cabo. Uruguay, Brasil, Chile y España también celebran este día.
En otros países se celebra en otras fechas. la oficial de la ONu es el 30 de julio, México el 14 de febrero.
De todas maneras, ¡qué bueno celebrar la amistad, aunque en el 2020 a distancia!
¿Por qué se celebra este día?
Fue la iniciativa de un porteño (nacido en Buenos Aires) que pensó en la importancia de la amistad y la solidaridad. Fue psicólogo, odontólogo y escritor, muy activo en su comunidad. hasta se pensó en él para un Nóbel.
¿Qué estaba haciendo cuando tuvo esta idea?
Mirando la llegada del Apolo 11 a la luna, muy emocionado con su familia frente a la tv blanco y negro, ¿lo recuerdan?

Pensó en lo unido que estaba gran parte del mundo con este evento y lo fuerte de este sentimiento, tan importante como la amistad.

Años después promovió esta idea entre otros aportes que hizo en su comunidad. “La amistad es la virtud más sobresaliente porque es desinteresada”, decía Enrique Febbraro, que pasó a la historia como el responsable de que el 20 de julio recordemos a los amigos.

Why is this day celebrated?

What were you doing when you had this idea?
Watching the arrival of Apollo 11 on the moon, very excited with his family in front of the black and white TV, do you remember that day?
He thought about how united a large part of the world was with this event and how strong this feeling was and he felt friendly with the astronauts.

Years later he promoted this idea among other contributions he made in his community. 
"Friendship is the most outstanding virtue because it is selfless," said Enrique Febbraro, who went down in history as the man responsible for the fact that on July 20 we remember friends.
