Welcome! Thank you for listening week after week. This is a podcast to practice Spanish so we ask you to listen to it and then, if you need to, look for the translation. We are going to translate some words, not all of them.
Yes, we don't want you to understand word by word but the context, it's not so important the message we give, besides ,,,, we just reflect on some words and expressions we use every day.
Well sometimes we tell a joke that is not very funny, actually....
What do you mean jokes are not very funny?
Well
Male, “hazte cargo” face it, a lot of the jokes are bad, but we take the 5
minutes very seriously. So, let's cut the crap and let's get started! What are
we talking about today?
Today
we're talking about “hacerse”.
So,
“hazte a la idea”, get used to the idea, that you're going to listen to us for
5 minutes.
Hacerse to
become, to be done
Hazte cargo to take charge
Hazte a la idea to get used to the idea
Hacernos bolas to get messed up
.
“Hacerse”
is a verb of change, it expresses that a person or thing undergoes a
transformation or change.
There
are other verbs of change, right?
Yes
“volverse”, “ponerse”, “llegar a ser” and other meaning to become. “Hacerse”
comes from the verb hacer in its reflexive form.
To
transform a thing into something else- The wine becomes vinegar.
I
grow older with time
Yes,
you get older, time goes by, we are getting older...as a song says....
Getting
older then refers to time
It's
getting late....it's getting dark
And
light was made, and light was made "as the Bible says at the creation of
the world".
Becoming
also refers to ideology. It is a voluntary change and usually has a process.
In
1907 he became an anarchist.
After
watching Madona's video, she became a vegetarian.
Religion
On
the trip to India they became Buddhists.
They
had an excellent experience because they traveled with Unique trips your Travel
Agency. Do you want to treat yourself and travel with the best level? Consult
Eduardo and Alejandro. We have to advertise; we continue with more of the verb
to do.
Profession
- Doctors' children become doctors.
Lawyers'
children become lawyers and Spanish teachers' children become Spanish teachers.
You can meet Fabri, our son, on Friday at 1:00 on Vamos a platicar. Don't play
deaf, we've already warned you, participate.
Hacerse el sordo- to play deaf
Very
quickly we are going to tell you the story of a Spanish student who was making
bad blood because she was not learning Spanish as she wanted to and she didn't
have a partner, so she felt lonely, she was clearly playing the victim. In her cooking classes she learned how to
cook, she invited a friend she met at the beach for dinner and he said: “Qué rica comida, se me hace agua la boca
“, "What a delicious meal, my mouth is watering", we don't
have to tell you the end, do we?
To
make a long story short, they became sweethearts, became husband and wife and
recently became parents.
Hacerse mala sangre to get annoyed
Hacerse la víctima to
play the victim
Hacerse agua la boca to
make my mouth water
.
