121.
Welcome! Thank you
for being with us week after week, for your comments, for listening and
participating in this family that is Spanish in Cabo. Again, we will speak in
Spanish, if you need the English version click on the image of Bruno
Pegoretti's painting, thanks for your art Bruno!
But, if you listen
to us week after week, you don't need the English translation anymore; you
don't have to click on Bruno's fantastic chicken, do you?
Of course not, try
to understand the context, not word for word, remember that Spanish has many
cognates, that is, similar words in other languages, such as English and
French, once you identify them it is easier.
Exactly, and today
we are going to talk about a saying that has to do with art, since we mentioned
painting.
We are artistic
today.... what is the phrase or saying?
It is not a saying
exactly, it is two verbs that together have a very nice meaning that inspires
and forms the phrase: To believe is to create.
To believe and to
create are two very similar verbs in grammar. The verb creer (to believe) in
the first person is conjugated: yo creo and the verb crear (to create) is also
yo creo. But beyond that, they are important verbs and logically confuse those
who speak Spanish as a second or third language, which is your case, right?
Not only are they
two important verbs, but they are also powerful, what unites them is intention.
If you believe in something you have to act or create.
If you wake up and
say "Oops, I slept badly, I am tired, today everything is going to go
wrong... everything is going to go very wrong.
Well, but if you
listen to us, you don't wake up with that attitude, you say good, today is a
spectacular day, I have my Spanish class, the SpanishUp2U workshop, a lot of
things to eat... and you create a very good day.
I heard comer,
that's a good verb.
You don't create
good health if you eat badly.
Exactly, I'm
joking with the food again, to believe is to create, it's a good phrase, when
you are convinced of something you act to achieve it and that's very good. And
in grammar these two verbs which are differentiated by a and e, are regular in
conjugation, so they are easy.
On the other hand, crear is cognate in English
and French, it changes the pronunciation. Creer is only cognate with French.
Regarding
pronunciation; it is important in Spanish to pronounce all the vowels:
Believe in yourself;
we believe in this project; I thought I could make it but I didn't.
Let's go to some
synonyms.
Synonyms for
believe: think, accept, affirm, suppose and there are more. examples?

podcast will be very useful to you or I think podcast 121 will be useful to
you.

establish, to found, to prepare.
