What is the topic of the day?

 

In these 5 minutes of Spanish in the middle of the week we are going to talk about an activity that we love and that is traveling. In the goals of our new year 2022 there is always at least one trip, right?

 

This month of December is the month of travel, many people travel to see their relatives or to enjoy a few days off with the family.

 

To travel in English is “to travel”

 

It is not cognate in English because this term comes from the Catalan viatge and in turn from the Latin viaticum, is the money you have (viaticum) to make a trip. Also, the root of viajar in Latin means road.

What does it mean “viajar”?

 

It is to move from one place to another using some means of locomotion: train, car, boat, bicycle, motorcycle or airplane.

It also refers to the movement of a vehicle:

Los cohetes viajan a gran velocidad - Rockets travel at high speed.

Or of an object

El agua corre por las tuberías. - Water flows through the pipes.

 

What are the synonyms for “viajar”?

 

Explorar -                  to explore

Peregrinar –             to go on a pilgrimage

Desplazarse -           to move around

Pasear -                    to stroll

Volar -                        to fly

Navegar -                  to sail

Vagar -                       to wander

 

Is traveling an adventure?

 

A few years ago, traveling was undoubtedly an adventure, a unique experience many times.

 

That's right, many people never left their hometowns for the rest of their lives. Those who went out were great adventurers.

 

I believe that traveling is always an unforgettable experience and it is up to us to make it an adventure. Tell me, Eduardo, you who are an expert in travel, what are the reasons for taking a trip?

 

People travel for different reasons; tourism, rest, family, to get to know new places and also, more and more, there are trips with a religious objective, to generate adrenaline by climbing a mountain or also, new cultural experiences.

 

That's where we come in, many people come to Los Cabos to learn or improve their Spanish in a different context. They not only learn Spanish but also their culture,

 

With Spanish in Cabo, you can also travel to other destinations in the Hispanic world, Spain, other places in Mexico or Peru. We form groups and we all walk together, we have classes and we also visit different places, it is a total immersion in the language and culture.

 

What places would you like to visit? Other places in Mexico or South America?

 

How about traveling together, discovering new places and practicing Spanish with our Spanish on the Move program? In 2022 we want to make at least 2 groups to travel together and practice Spanish.

¿Cuál es el tema del día?

 

En estos 5 minutos de español a la mitad de la semana vamos a hablar de una actividad que nos encanta y es viajar. En las metas de nuestro nuevo año 2022 siempre hay por lo menos un viaje, ¿verdad que sí?

 

Este mes de diciembre es el mes de los viajes, muchas personas viajan para ver a sus familiares o para disfrutar de unos días de descanso en familia.

 

Viajar en inglés se dice-  To travel

 

No es cognado en inglés pues este término proviene del catalán viatge y a su vez del latín viaticum, es el dinero que se tiene (viático) para hacer un viaje. También, la raíz de viajar en latín significa camino.

¿Viajar es una aventura?

 

Hace unos años viajar era. sin duda, una aventura, una experiencia muchas veces única.

 

Exacto, muchas personas no salían de su pueblo durante toda la vida. Los que salían eran grandes aventureros.

Yo creo que viajar es siempre una experiencia inolvidable y de nosotros depende que sea una aventura. Dime, Eduardo, tú que eres experto en viajes ¿cuáles son los motivos para hacer un viaje?

 

Las personas viajan por diferentes razones; turismo, descanso, familia, conocer nuevos lugares y también cada vez más, hay viajes con un objetivo ya sea, religioso, generar adrenalina al subir una montaña o también, nuevas experiencias culturales.

 

Ahí entramos nosotros, muchas personas vienen a Los Cabos para aprender o mejorar su español en un contexto diferente. No solo aprenden español sino también su cultura,

 

Con Spanish in Cabo también puedes viajar a otros destinos del mundo hispánico, España, otros lugares de México o Perú. Formamos grupos y paseamos todos juntos, tenemos clases y también visitamos diferentes lugares, es una total inmersión en la lengua y la cultura.
