Welcome to episode 227 of this podcast and thank you very much for being here reflecting on Spanish, a language that we love and that summons us today. What is our topic today?

We are going to talk about a very special word: creer (to believe). 

Creer (to believe).... interesting. How do we approach it?

We are going to talk about how beliefs empower and empower or limit us, especially when we learn a language like Spanish.

To believe is a powerful verb.Creer es un verbo poderoso. Creemos en algo y actuamos en consecuencia. Si crees que aprender español es difícil seguramente te costará más. / We believe in something and we act in consequence. if you believe learning Spanish is difficult, it will probably cost you more 

Si crees que puedes aprenderlo y disfrutar el proceso, (If you believe you can learn it and enjoy the process), vas a avanzar con confianza (you will move forward with confidence).

Si te levantas y dices: "¡Ufa! Aprender español es imposible, nunca voy a entenderlo", (Uf, learning Spanish is impossible, I will never understand it), entonces tu cerebro lo creerá y hará que sea más difícil (your brain will believe it and make it harder).

Pero tú que nos escuchas, sabes que no es así. Crees en tu capacidad de aprender (you believe in your ability to learn), practicas, te sumerges en el idioma y poco a poco lo haces tuyo (you immerse yourself in the language and gradually you make it yours). Creer en ti mismo (believing in yourself) es el primer paso para hablar español con fluidez (to speak Spanish fluently).

Ñet s see  some expresons /Vamos con algunas expresiones:

"No me lo creas a mí, pruébalo tú mismo." / Don’t believe me, try it yourself.

"No te puedo creer… ¡hablas español cada vez mejor!" / I can’t believe it… you speak Spanish better and better!

"Créelo, en seis meses entenderás mucho más." / Believe it, in six months you’ll understand much more.

In grammar, creer is an irregular verb in some forms, but it is used a lot in everyday life./En la gramática, creer es un verbo irregular en algunas formas, pero se usa muchísimo en la vida diaria.

Pensar (to think), aceptar (to accept), afirmar (to affirm), suponer (to suppose).

"Creo que este podcast te va a ayudar" / I think this podcast will help you. "Pienso que este episodio es muy útil." / I think this episode is very useful.

Convicción (conviction), idea (idea), certeza (certainty).

"Tengo la creencia de que todo es posible si lo intentas." / I believe that everything is possible if you try.
