¡Bienvenidos! Gracias por estar semana a semana junto a nosotros. Por los comentarios, por escuchar y participar de esta familia que es Spanish in Cabo. Ayer fue el día de la madre! Ya felicitamos a las madres el miércoles pasado pero hoy las felicitamos otra vez.

 

En México es un día muy importante y es el 10 de mayo, no el segundo domingo de mayo como en otros países, no importa que no sea fin de semana. Por ejemplo este año fue martes. Recordando a las madres vamos a hablar de la palabra madre en el español de México

 

Pero, en todos los idiomas cuando alguien enojado menciona madre….ya sabemos lo que te dicen…y no es bonito.

 

De acuerdo,  pero a ese uso de madre en el lenguaje,  no nos vamos a referir, especialmente  en esta edición  tan cerca del día de la madre. O sea que ofensas como: “el adjetivo (mala-fea…) madre que te….”no es el tema de hoy y esa referencia a malas madres son iguales en todas las lenguas.

 

Entonces, ¿vemos algunos ejemplos del uso de madre característico de México?

 

Empecemos, en primer lugar: Cuando algo es muy, pero muy lindo se dice que es padrísimo.

Por ejemplo, tú me dices: Malena, llevas un vestido padrísimo / Malena you are wearing a fantastic dress.

Padre como expresión significa: genial, maravilloso

Muy padre- very good

 

Por ejemplo ¡Qué padre este podcast del uso de la palabra madre en el español!

¡how great this podcast of the use of the word mother in Spanish!

 

¿Y el equivalente utilizando la palabra madre?

 

Una fiesta divertida con mucha alegría es a toda madre.

A toda madre- fun- joy

 

Pero en general la palabra madre se utiliza como expresión en un contexto negativo.

 

Desorden- desmadre

 

Cuando no ves- no se ve ni madre / You cannot see

 

Un accidente: se dio de madres o se dio un madrazo

 

Alguien que gana un salario bajo- gana una madre (he earns a bad salary)

 

Si alguien se enoja mucho contigo te menta madres o sea decirte malas palabras.

 

 

De madres- negativo- Nos fue mal

Welcome! Thank you for being with us week after week. For the comments, for listening and participating in this family that is Spanish in Cabo. Yesterday was Mother's Day! We already congratulated mothers last Wednesday but today we congratulate them again.

 

In Mexico it is a very important day and it is on May 10th, not the second Sunday of May as in other countries, no matter if it is not a weekend. For example, this year it was Tuesday. Remembering mothers, let's talk about the word mother in Mexican Spanish.

 

But, in all languages when someone angry mentions mother.... we already know what they say ... and it is not nice.

 

Okay, but we are not going to refer to that use of mother in the language, especially in this edition so close to Mother's Day. So offenses such as: "the adjective (bad-ugly...) mother that te...." is not today's topic and that reference to bad mothers are the same in all languages.

 

So, shall we see some examples of the use of mother characteristic of Mexico?

 

Let's start, first of all: When something is very, very nice it is said that it is “padrísimo”.

For example, you tell me: Malena, llevas un vestido padrísimo / Malena you are wearing a fantastic dress.

Padre as an expression means: great, wonderful

Muy padre- very good

And the equivalent using the word “madre”?

But in general, the word madre is used as an expression in a negative context.
