99 semanas, se dice fácil pero no lo es,
¡Exactamente!
y por eso, vamos a hablar de una palabra simple pero
que tiene varios significados y además, se usa mucho. A veces hablamos sobre
temas de gramática algo complicados y en 5 minutos no se puede concretar nada.
Entonces, ¿cuál es la palabra de hoy?
Hoy
hablaremos de “sobre”. Vamos a hablar sobre la preposición “sobre”.
Es una preposición o sea un nexo que une
diferentes elementos de una oración.
Y no
tiene ni género, ni número, o sea no es ni femenino, ni masculino, ni singular
ni plural.
¿Vemos algunos ejemplos?
Las llaves están sobre
las mesa, ¿no las ves? / The keys are on
the table, don't you see them?
El Aconcagua tiene una altura de 6,961 metros
sobre el nivel del mar / The Aconcagua
has a height of 6,961 meters above sea level
El gato duerme sobre el sofá / The cat
sleeps on the sofa
El avión vuela sobre
la ciudad / The plane flies over the city
El carro rojo tiene muchas ventajas sobre el carro azul / The red car
has many advantages over the blue car
Durante el huracán la luz se cortó sobre las 6:00
/ During the hurricane the electricity was cut around 6:00
En la clase de hoy hablaremos sobre las montañas más altas del mundo / In
today's class we`ll talk about the highest mountains in the world
En los talleres de conversación platicamos sobre distintos temas / In
the conversation workshops we talk about different topics.
Pero también hay
otros significados de sobre…antiguamente, cuando escribíamos cartas las
poníamos en un sobre de carta. Y lo cerrábamos con saliva… ¡qué asco! Ahora con el Covid estaría prohibido. / In the old days, when we wrote
letters, we put them in an envelope.
And we closed it with saliva... disgusting! Now with the Covid it would
be forbidden.
Ahora tenemos sobres para enviar ciertas cosas por
Amazon u otras empresas de paquetería.
O
sea que sobre es sinónimo de arriba y también, se utiliza para indicar un tema,
una aproximación con números, prioridad o superioridad.
También podemos formar palabras con sobre:
Sobrecarga - Overload-
Podemos tener una sobrecarga eléctrica.
Sobrevalorado o
sobrevaluado – overpriced - En la Navidad las
uvas están sobrevaluadas (caras).
Sobrepeso -
overweight - ¿Conoces a alguien
con sobrepeso?
Sobreestirar - Overstretch
- El profesor de yoga dice cuiden de no sobreestirar
las rodillas.
Sobregiro bancario- Bank Overdraft - El sobregiro es un problema
Sobresalir - To stand out - La estudiante sobresale por su nivel de español
Sobrevivir - To survive - Tenemos un
programa en Spanish in Cabo que se llama español para sobrevivir, ¿lo tomaste?
sobresaliente - outstanding - ¿Tú eras sobresaliente en la escuela? ¿Verdad? Te voy a hacer una
pregunta: La palabra sobretodo (todo junto) y sobre todo (separado),
¿significan lo mismo?
No,
suenan igual pero no significan lo mismo: “sobre todo” - es principalmente,
especialmente - above all y “sobretodo” - es una prenda de vestir de abrigo (no se necesita en Los Cabos) - overcoat
Y te

99 weeks, it sounds easy but it is not,
Exactly! and that's why we are going to talk about a
simple word that has several meanings and is used a lot. Sometimes we talk
about complicated grammar issues and in 5 minutes we can't get anything right.
So, what is today's word?
Today we are going to talk about "sobre". We
are going to talk about the preposition "sobre".
It is a preposition or a nexus that joins different elements
