Muchos están en contra de celebrar ese día pues en realidad, América estaba poblada desde hace más de 40,000 años durante las glaciaciones por grupos que vinieron del Asia por el estrecho de Bering, es decir Colón no encontró algo por primera vez, no descubrió nada nuevo.

Hubo un saqueo de las riquezas, una imposición de una religión. Mucha violencia como la hay en toda conquista. Solo la imagen de los perros que capturaban a los indígenas es terrible.

Lo cierto es que si Colón no hubiera llegado no hablaríamos español

Hubieran llegado los portugueses y estaríamos hablando en portugués

Esto hubiera sido algo  muy probable pues Europa necesitaba llegar a las Indias Orientales por motivos comerciales. Así que navegar hacia el oeste por el Océano Atlántico era necesario, pues el Imperio Otomano controlaba el paso por Asia.

Uyy hablaríamos sueco y tendríamos todo en orden

Eso es imposible en América Latina

O sea que para las condiciones imposibles o improbables con si / if - usamos el Imperfecto de subjuntivo (hubiera) + participio pasado en la condición y el condicional (ía) en la segunda parte, el resultado .

Si los portugueses hubieran llegado primero a América, hablaríamos portugués.

Es una estructura un poco triste, de remordimiento;
